Short, clear steps you can follow in emergencies.

Bleeding — Stop It

  1. Apply direct pressure with a clean cloth.
  2. Elevate the injured area if possible.
  3. If bleeding soaks through, add another cloth — do not remove the first.

Burns — Cool First

  1. Run cool (not ice) water over the burn for 10–20 minutes.
  2. Remove tight clothing/jewellery near the area.
  3. Cover with sterile, non-adhesive dressing and seek care.

Choking — Heimlich (Abdominal Thrusts)

  1. Stand behind the person, wrap arms around waist.
  2. Make a fist, place it above the navel and thrust inward/upward.
  3. Repeat until object dislodges; call emergency services if lost consciousness.
